She said it would still cost $300, and then I thanked her and hung up. I told her as if I had to pay $300 to fix an issue that Lenovo themselves caused, and then I would never buy Lenovo products again and throw it out after taking my harddrive out. She went back to her supervisor again, and then beat around the bush now saying it wasn't a known hardware issue. I was pissed, I tried explaining all this in a calm manner. I asked if it's a known hardware issue, then why must I pay for their screw-up, what was I getting shafted for using an official Lenovo application on my laptop that led to some small fucking MOSFET chip getting shorted out. She then went to her supervisor and said that it was a known hardware issue, and it would be a billable repair. I had some important documents on my SSD, which I could remove via the ultrabay slot, but the majority of my important documents were on the harddrive. I have all my important documents on the internal harddrive. This laptop is my lifeline, I use it for everything. I tried explaining to her that I use the laptop for school and basically need it to succeed in school. At this point being told again that basically I'm screwed, and repairs would be $200 - $300. She kept putting me on hold to talk to her supervisor to help, but guess what, nothing helped. She tried to help with some solutions but nothing worked. This time I got a woman and explained the problem again to her. After 20 minutes on no sound at all, I hung up and called again. I got put on hold, after 5 minutes the music cut out, and I was still connected.

My warranty has been out for a few months at this point, and I don't have the money to repair my laptop. Since it was a hardware issue, and the motherboard was probably affected, then they would do billable repairs, and it would cost between $200 and $300. They then suggested I send it in for repairs. I called Lenovo Support, and they tried to give out suggestions on what could help remedy the problem. Someone else suggested unplugging the AC power cord, and taking the battery out and letting it sit for 12ish hours to reset the CMOS battery, but lo and behold that didn't work. I tried and tried to get the keyboard lit up again, but couldn't. I tried pressing the OKR button again, and holding it, and nothing happened. Then I held down the One Key Recovery button, the keyboard lit up for a second, then turned off. My Laptop got fucked up running their own software. I went back to r/techsupport live chat, and now people are giving me ways I can potentially revive it with holding the power button down for a certain amount of time, pressing the power button 10 times in 1 second intervals then holding the power button for 30 seconds, and other "solutions". The indication light for the charger being plugged in, wasn't even on. I would have thought the same thing, but the laptop wasn't recognizing the AC power adapter. The live chat said that the battery just needed a few hours to recharge. I went to r/techsupport live chat, and posted to the subreddit, about the problem. It took 5+ hours to charge the battery to 100%, then discharge to 0%, but when it hit 0%, the laptop abruptly turned off. It required the charger being plugged in the whole time. It was under Energy Management, and what it did was, charge the battery to 100%, then drain it to 0%. I'd had the laptop for a year and a half now, and I LOVED it, and now my warranty's run out, my laptop has given my nothing but problems.īut a new problem came up 2 days ago. I ordered it from Lenovo's website, and my laptop came a few weeks later. Saved up for a few months, did my research, and took me weeks to find the perfect laptop and I settled on the Y500. I had just gotten a job and needed a laptop for school. I bought my Y500 back in June of 2013 for ~$900.
